Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) Leviticus 23:26-32
“And on the tenth day of the seventh month there shall be a Day of Atonement: it shall be a holy convocation to you; and you shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD”. Leviticus 23:27
Yahshua’s purpose for coming was not only to atone for our sin, to seek the lost sheep of the house of Israel, to come in the name of YAH as the living Torah, but he also came to renew the covenant of Abraham by getting rid of the Levitical priesthood and the ceremonial laws of animal sacrifice. The Levites themselves needed cleansing prior of their own sin; and they were men who did not live forever. The only way to renew or ratify an oath/covenant was through the sacrifice of bulls and goats. Yahshua was that sacrifice for us and his blood renewed the covenant and disannulled the Levitical Priesthood and the ceremonial laws of sacrifice. Yahshua is our great High Priest and the first born of many brethren. We are those brethren; a nation of priests.
