Passover
2009: "On the Third Day"
Yah-the
name of the Most High God and the God of Israel according to Psalm 68:4-issued
a commandment for Israel to observe Passover (Pesach) as recorded in Exodus 12:1-28,
Leviticus 23:4-8, Numbers 9:1-14, and Deuteronomy 16:1-8. Some disciples provided
for us their witness of the Messiah Yahshua ("Yah's Salvation" in Hebrew,
often referred to as Jesus) observing Passover (Matthew 26, Mark 14, and Luke
22). In Acts 12, witnesses tell of soldiers who intended to bring Peter up to
the people "after the Passover" which indicates that Believers in Messiah
continued to celebrate this appointed time.
So we, too, will observe and celebrate
Passover with a special assembly on Wednesday, April 8, starting at 6:00p.m. at
the EDN Center. Under the theme, "On the Third Day," we will consider
the role of Passover in the prophecy of Hosea 6:2: "After two days will he
revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight."
(King James Version)
The cost for the event is $30.00 per person over age 8. For more information,
call 1 (404) 475-5380.
The
introduction of Passover is given in Exodus 12, Numbers 9, and Leviticus 16. Israel
was instructed to continue to observe Passover as a memorial of the first complete
Passover "as a festival to Yah throughout the ages; you shall celebrate it
as an institution for all time." Not only was the observance a look back,
it was also intended to be a look forward as a picture of the ultimate sacrifice:
The Messiah Yahshua as the perfect lamb.
The
time of Passover is also noted as the "head of the year" (New Year)
for Israel. It is the first of seven annual feasts or appointments set for Israel
and all of those who accept redemption through Messiah Yahshua and obey Yah's
commandments. Passover, perhaps, marks the beginning of the first of three days
in the Most High's master plan.

Feast
of Unleavened Bread
"
for
seven days you shall eat unleavened bread." Exodus 12:15
Yahshua's
sacrifice, symbolized as Passover, begins Yah's master plan for the redemption
of mankind and for the re-establishment of His Kingdom upon the earth. The day
following Passover marks the beginning of the Feast of Unleavened Bread.
According
to Leviticus 23:6-8, "and on the fifteenth day of that month [observe] Yah's
Feast of Unleavened Bread. You shall eat unleavened bread for seven days."
(Yah is the name of the Most High God and the God of Israel according to Psalm
68:4.) Luke 2:41 and Matthew 26:17 bear witness to Yahshua celebrating this feast.
(Yahshua in Hebrew means "Yah's Salvation"; often referred to in English
as Jesus.) In Acts 12:1-4, we are told that there was persecution of "the
church" during "the days of unleavened bread" so this feast was
observed after Yahshua's death.
The
Feast of Unleavened Bread is a seven-day pilgrimage festival. The first day and
the seventh day are Sabbath days where no work is done and holy assemblies take
place (Exodus 12:16). The feast caters around leaven, or the lack thereof. In
this Feast, leaven represents sin as it so commonly does throughout scripture.
During this time, we are not to eat any bread with yeast. It is an act which symbolizes
our freedom from sin and death granted by Yahshua's death. Such a physical conscientiousness
is also to make us more aware to get rid of and not partake in spiritual sin (missing
the mark of Torah) in our lives. This feast pictures is Israel free of sin. Out
of slavery, Yah is calling us into a life of holiness
calling for us to be
holy. Then, when we eat of Yahshua, Yah's Salvation and His Word (Torah) made
flesh, we are eating Yah's pure unleavened bread-the bread of Heaven-that is the
guide for life and abundant living.
The
Sabbath
"Surely
My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your
generations, that you may know that I am Yah, the God who sanctifies you."
Exodus 31:13
The
Bible clearly establishes the seventh day of the week, commonly known as "Saturday,"
as the Sabbath-from sundown Friday through sundown Saturday. All Bible days begin
and end at sunset.
The
Sabbath is the sign that identifies to people what God you serve. It is the sign
by which we may know that the Most High God, Yah, is Master. It identifies Yah,
and by so doing, it identifies who His people are as well. (Yah is the name of
the Most High God and the God of Israel according to Psalm 68:4.)
On
the seventh day, Yah ended the work of creation-what was created by work. He rested
on the seventh day, and by doing so, created the Sabbath. He then blessed and
set apart the seventh day as a day of rest and worship for mankind. In resting
on the seventh day of Creation, Yah put His presence in that day, making it holy
time. Four thousand years later, when Yahshua (Yah's Salvation and His Word (Torah))
lived in human flesh, He was still putting His presence in this same weekly, recurring
Sabbath; He went into the synagogues "as His custom was . . . on the Sabbath
day" (Luke 4:16). And likewise, "Paul, as his custom was, went in to
them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures" (Acts
17:2). It was his customary practice to keep the Sabbath, as the Bible proves
by its recording of eighty-four different Sabbaths Paul kept.
"Remember
the Sabbath day, to keep it holy." Exodus 20:8
The
Sabbath is a space of time. That time, whenever it arrives, is not ours but the
Most High God's. If we appropriate it for our own use, whether for work or pleasure,
we are stealing that time from Yah! In Exodus 20:8, He commands us to "keep
it holy." We honor the Him by keeping holy those things that He has made
holy-and only He can make things holy! No other day was made holy, so no other
day can be kept holy.
"Six
days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath
of the Yah your God. In it you shall do no work. . . ." Exodus 20:9-10:
If
you delight in the Sabbath and honor Yah by not doing your own agenda or finding
your own pleasure, or speaking your own words, then Yah will cause you to ride
on the high hills of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Jacob, your
father.
The Sabbath
command is a spiritual command. It has to do with our fellowship with, assembly
for, and worship of Yah. This is why the Sabbath was made for man-as a blessing
of rest and refreshment to be enjoyed.
